Mission To Africa

July 5-21, 2008

Please remember to pray for pastors Dave Raufman and Nate Mullen as they are in Africa.

Dave Raufman will be doing leadership training in Kajiji with local pastors, continuing to build on relationships from past visits.

Nate Mullen will be beginning a three year project called Jubilee Congo with churches in Kinshasa and Kikwit.  This project will help to spread the gospel through music to the community in the Republic of Congo using their music in their language with the goal of enabling the Congolese worship pastors to produce and distribute Biblical leadership materials in their language.

Details about the Jubilee Congo - a missions program that combines worship and microeconomics with three purposes:

  1. To spread the gospels through music to the community in the Democratic Republic of Congo using their music and their language.
  2. Develop an economic plan that will enable the Congolese worship pastors to distribute and sell their worship product in their context and abroad.
  3. Equip the Congolese Worship pastors the digital hardware to continue producing worship product and provide a means where the equipment can be used for educational purposes.

Jubilee Congo was the result of a conversation I [Nate] had with Pakisa Tshamika in May of 2007 regarding the use of music in intercultural mission.  The term of this project is three years.  The first trip which will occur in July 2008 is about connecting with the churches in Kinshasa and Kikwit.  Through Pakisa, I will meet with 5-10 different congregation who have expressed a desire to be involved with this project.  I will also have the opportunity to dialogue extensively with them about their musical ideas, economy, business structure, and their need for digital recording equipment to produce Biblical leadership materials in their language.

During the second trip in the Summer of 2009, we will come to consensus on the worship materiel, develop a basic time table from recording to product drop and access their distribution options.  In the third year we will record, package the product, and serve in an advisory role in the distribution process.
