We invite the whole family to join us for special Christmas day services – a very meaningful way to spend your Christmas morning! Youth and kids will join their parents in the worship center. The service will include an interactive object lesson for the kids. All children will receive a gift that day. Childcare will be provided for children 4 and under.

Selma Layne Adopt-a-Park

We’re teaming up with Fresno PARCS department to adopt Selma Layne Park which is only a block away from our church campus. This is brand new and we are still figuring out the details but we will be working to organize two three hour sessions a month for graffiti clean up, weeding, trash pickup and general upkeep. Fitting right into our Northpark CARES mentality this is an opportunity for us to serve our neighborhood, our community and our city.

On August 28th, we will be combining our two services into one giant celebration under a tent on the grass area. The service begins at 10:15 an will be followed by a picnic lunch, live music from The Remnant, water slides for the kids and tables representing Northpark’s diverse ministries.

ISMK 2011 Boot Camp Update

Hi everyone, we have completed two weeks with the new MKs, we’ve had adventures canoeing, caving, camping, bargaining, crossing borders and learning about being an overseas missionary. Here’s a highlight video that was created for parents to see what their kids have been experiencing. One more week to go and then we’ll be coming home, we will be working with 50 high school students returning from the field in the coming week.

Ryan: Joplin Relief Update

Since Bekah and I arrived in Missouri we have been working and ministering almost nonstop. We did have one day off, Sunday, and decided to use it to visit the tornado-ravaged city of Joplin, MO. While there, we worshiped with a church, Faith Assembly, who had lost their building and were meeting in a Holiday Inn. I spoke at length with the church’s youth pastor and children’s pastor. In fact, Steve Watson, children’s pastor, explained to me that they normally have 65 + children in multiple rooms but are currently making due with a single conference room for all children at the hotel. Nonetheless, the church’s congregation of 250 were in hopeful, thankful spirits and the morning’s text focused on Jesus’ declaration in Luke 4:17-21 that the Spirit of the Lord is upon him to proclaim good news to the poor and set the captives free. Even as they had lost their building, they were looking to serve the poor and those in need.

Later, we drove into the disaster area and were stunned by the destruction and devastation that we saw. For miles, everything had been leveled, like something you would see in a movie where a bomb had gone off. For weeks, our family has been praying for the people of Joplin and it was impactful for our children, Micah and Amelia, to see what had happened and why we have been doing everything we can to help them.

Finally, we toured the Disaster Resource Center located in the sanctuary of Joplin Family Worship Center. The 50-foot-truck, organized by Kayla Christensen, that we helped to fill with emergency supplies had arrived earlier in the week. I spoke with Rev. Reggie Powers, who shared that he got goosebumps every time he heard the story of Kayla and the donations all the way from Fresno. Many more trucks and trailers full of relief supplies have been funneled through the Resource center and given to people in need. The operation is extremely organized and efficient, I was blown away by the scale of their efforts. Over 1400 people have volunteered so far and hundreds, if not thousands, have been served. Our schedule does not allow us to return and serve ourselves, but we were able to connect the organizers with a team of MKs who will camp out and serve there beginning next week.

Thanks everyone who supported the Joplin drive, it is a blessing to have bee able to see firsthand your generosity and care at work! I am attaching a photo gallery of images that we took that day. Let’s continue to pray and seek God for how we can serve the city of Joplin. The rebuild effort will take years.
